Sustainable Food Production FOOD 21 is an interdisciplinary research program funded by the Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research (MISTRA ). The research is concentrated at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, but is also carried out at the universities in Uppsala, Gothenburg, Lund and Umeå. The overall long term goal of the FOOD 21 program is to define optimal conditions for sustainable food production that generate high quality food products. 

The FOOD 21 research has been summarized in two main reports (1997-2004)
