Synthesis of knowledge is central to FOOD 21. Synthesis can occur at different levels and reflects the endeavour to bring together the subsections to form a whole. The objective is to successively depict a vision of what a more sustainable food production could look like in the future.

Successful synthesis work requires the participation of people from all sectors of the food chain. FOOD 21 represents the scientific competence. Interested parties with knowledge of agriculture and food production represent the link to agriculture and industry through, amongst other means, involvement in FOOD 21’s consultative body.

Also, by bringing together FOOD 21’s research with other research on sustainable food production, an even bigger and many-faceted blueprint is created of problems and concrete solutions.

FOOD 21’s synthesis is divided into two blocks: themes and scenarios.
